Creating Goals

Turning priorities into action

Goals define what needs to get done.

When they are clear, assigned, and tracked, execution becomes consistent.

This guide walks through how to create and manage goals in Dual Dash.

Where to create goals

You can create goals from multiple places:

  • Work Plans
  • Dashboard (Goals widget)
  • 1:1 Meetings (Goals widget)

This allows you to capture goals wherever work is happening.

Creating a goal

To create a goal:

  1. Click Add Goal
  2. Enter a clear title and description
  3. Set the details that define how the goal will be completed

Setting goal details

Each goal can include:

  • Priority to indicate importance
  • Status to track progress
  • Due date to set expectations
  • Time estimate to define effort

The due date will also appear on your Dashboard Calendar, helping you stay on track.

Public and private goals

Not all goals need to be shared.

  • Public goals are visible to the team and support alignment
  • Private goals are for individual focus

This allows you to manage both personal and team priorities.

Assigning ownership and teams

Clear ownership drives execution.

You can:

  • Assign an owner
  • Add collaborators so others stay in the loop
  • Select a Team to track completion rates across a group

Team completion rates are visible in the Teams tool, giving insight into overall progress.

Organizing your work

Goals can be structured and categorized to stay organized.

You can:

  • Add subtasks to break work into smaller steps
  • Tag business categories for reporting and filtering

This helps keep work clear and manageable.

Collaborating and communicating

Work happens through communication.

Inside each goal, you can:

  • Add comments
  • Tag team members to notify them

Collaborators receive updates when goals are changed, keeping everyone aligned.

Viewing goals

You can view and manage goals in different ways:

  • List view for structured tracking
  • Kanban view for visual progress

This allows you to work in the way that fits your style.

Connecting goals to performance

Goals are not separate from performance.

They connect across the system:

  • Show up in 1:1 Meetings for progress reviews
  • Appear in Performance Reviews as part of overall performance
  • Contribute to Team completion rates

This ensures work is visible, discussed, and evaluated over time.

The bottom line

Goals should not live in a document.

They should be clear, tracked, and connected to how work gets done.
