Managing Action Items

Managing Action Items

Action Items turn conversations into execution.

They are separate, delegated items used to track commitments made in real time.

Not goals.
Not tasks.
Just clear ownership of what needs to get done next.

Create an Action Item

You can create Action Items from places like:

  • Meetings (1:1s)
  • Other supported areas in the platform

To create an Action Item:

  1. Add a new Action Item
  2. Enter a clear description
  3. Assign an owner
  4. Set a due date (optional but recommended)

Keep Action Items simple and specific.

Assign Ownership

Every Action Item should have one clear owner.

The owner is responsible for:

  • Completing the work
  • Updating progress
  • Communicating if something is blocked

Clear ownership ensures nothing gets missed.

Set a Due Date

Adding a due date helps create accountability.

Due dates:

  • Appear in the Calendar widget
  • Help prioritize work
  • Keep Action Items on track

If no due date is set, the item remains open until completed.

Track Action Items

Action Items stay visible until they are completed.

You can track them from:

  • Meetings (1:1s) where they were created
  • The Action Items widget on your Dashboard

The Dashboard gives you a quick view of:

  • What’s assigned to you
  • What’s coming up
  • What still needs attention

This helps you stay on top of commitments without searching for them.

Complete an Action Item

Once the work is done:

  • Mark the Action Item as complete

Completed items are recorded and help track follow-through over time.

Use Action Items in Meetings

Action Items are most often created during Meetings (1:1s).

They help you:

  • Capture commitments in the moment
  • Carry items into the next meeting
  • Maintain continuity between conversations

This keeps meetings focused on progress, not just discussion.

Why Action Items Matter

Most work doesn’t fail because of bad ideas.

It fails because there’s no follow-through.

Action Items solve that.

They make ownership clear and execution visible.

What’s Next

Action Items help you follow through.
