Growth Plan Logic

How Growth Plans work

Growth Plans in Dual Dash follow a defined structure.

They are designed to guide development based on:

  • Your current role
  • Your desired direction
  • Your current performance

Each plan is generated using a combination of Performance Drivers and Role Skills (Technical Skills).

Career Direction drives the plan

Every Growth Plan begins with the Career Direction question.

This is required before a plan can be created.

The selected direction determines:

  • What skills or behaviors are recommended
  • Whether the focus is on current performance or future growth

Career Direction options

Dual Dash supports four Career Directions:

  1. New to role and building confidence
  2. Established and improving specific skills or behaviors
  3. Performing well and preparing for a future role
  4. Performing well and maintaining current performance

Each option changes how the Growth Plan is generated.

Current role vs future role logic

For Career Directions 1, 2, and 4:

  • Growth Plans are based on the current role
  • Recommendations come from:
    • Performance Drivers
    • Role Skills tied to that role

For Career Direction 3:

  • The user selects a future role
  • Growth Plans are based on that role instead of the current one

This allows development to align with career progression.

Success Driver library requirement

Growth Plans only pull from what is defined in the system.

Performance Drivers and Role Skills must exist in the Success Driver library for the role in order to appear in a Growth Plan.

If a driver or skill is not configured for the role, it will not be available for selection.

This ensures:

  • Development aligns with role expectations
  • Plans are consistent across the organization
  • Only relevant skills and behaviors are included

How recommendations are generated

Growth Plans suggest areas of focus based on:

  • Lower scores in Performance Drivers
  • Gaps in Role Skills
  • Role expectations

Users can then select which areas to focus on.

One active plan at a time

Only one Growth Plan can be active at a time.

This ensures:

  • Focus
  • Clear priorities
  • Measurable progress

Once a plan is completed, a new plan can be created by answering the Career Direction question again.

Plan structure

Each Growth Plan includes:

  • Selected Performance Drivers or Role Skills
  • A defined success outcome
  • A chosen development method, such as:
    • Coaching
    • Training
    • Mentoring
    • On-the-job practice

This creates a clear and actionable development path.

How Growth Plans connect

Growth Plans are integrated across the system.

They appear in:

  • 1:1 Meetings for ongoing coaching
  • Performance discussions to track progress

This ensures development is continuously supported.

The bottom line

Growth Plans are not random.

They follow a defined logic based on role, direction, and performance.
